Rock Mount, North Carolina

12th March, 2009

Our last day here and it feels like I've already gained 5 Kg in just one week!

The USA has the worst eaing habits ever! All you see is fast food and almost everything is greasy and full of fat. A simple breakfast starts with bacon and pancakes (wich are almost 2cm thick) and syrup.

Brown bread is unknown, you always get fluffy white bread.
When yu order a drink, a 0,2 glass is unknown, I think they start with half a liter or so and you have unlimited refill = unlimited tons of sugar!

In one week our breakfast and meals were held at:

Dunkin' Donuts
Hardee's
Stir Fry (greasy Chinese food)
Applebee's
Outback Steak House
Taco Bell
Bojangles

All of these are chains which can be found all through the USA. And there are so many more chains for burgers or pizza.

I will go on a cabbage diet when I am back home!!

Depends where you live! Those chains are the worst of the worst. I don't think any self respecting person would eat there all the time. People in the NYC area (where I'm from) are a lot more health-conscious and adore exotic foods. We eat at real restaurants, cafes. People aren't as health-absorbed in other parts of the U.S., I imagine. I would never touch that stuff @,@; And on a side note, I managed to gain weight while living in France because of the chocolate, wine, and bread, lol. Andd heeyyy, we have brown/black bread, lol. Where are you going that doesn't have it??? You could probably ask for it. But it's true, we do have a problem as a whole. I think America's biggest problem is making real food in real portions and getting people to exercise more.
