Our last day here and it feels like I've already gained 5 Kg in just one week!

The USA has the worst eaing habits ever! All you see is fast food and almost everything is greasy and full of fat. A simple breakfast starts with bacon and pancakes (wich are almost 2cm thick) and syrup.

Brown bread is unknown, you always get fluffy white bread.
When yu order a drink, a 0,2 glass is unknown, I think they start with half a liter or so and you have unlimited refill = unlimited tons of sugar!

In one week our breakfast and meals were held at:

Dunkin' Donuts
Hardee's
Stir Fry (greasy Chinese food)
Applebee's
Outback Steak House
Taco Bell
Bojangles

All of these are chains which can be found all through the USA. And there are so many more chains for burgers or pizza.

I will go on a cabbage diet when I am back home!!

Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina

We reached our next destination: Kill Devil Hills!
Directly located on the Outer Banks, this is the coolest place until now.

Yesterday we went to see Baufort, the "Message in a bottle" city. Well, it's a tiny town and there wasn't much to do on a Sunday but we had a nice steak at the "Ribeyes" =)

We also went to the NC Aquarium. It was nice but nothing compared to the Singapore Aquarium which I visited in 2007.

On the way back to the Hotel in Atlantic Beach I captured this shot of an awesome sunset, the sky looked so wonderful like it was burning.

On our way to Kill Devil Hills we stopped at New Bern, the town Nicholas Sparks lives in. It was founded by Swiss and Germans many years ago. it's a pretty little harbor city.

We couldn't go to the Outer Banks directly because suddenly fires appeared almost everywhere and we were forced to take another route. The fire was just right beside us next to the street. It was so scary!

But we finally arrived here and have the whole day tomorrow to explore the area.

Raleigh, North Carolina

After the most boring 9 hour flight of my life (NO TV's at the seats and very little space for the legs - no go for American Airlines) I arrived safely in Raleigh, North Carolina yesterday.
After picking up our car at Alamo we only had 1 night in Raleigh and left for Atlantic Beach today. It was a 4-hour ride with our KIA and now we are staying for 2 days in this cute little village directly located at the ocean.

We stopped at Smithville, a huge Outlet Mall city and I got myself some shoes (Converse & Vans) for 40$ and some Tee's. Sprtswear is way cheaper than in Germany but food and anything elso is not that cheap.
And there's fast food just everywhere! So far I've eaten Pizza and Burgers although we wanted go for steak and seafood but all restaurants here closed at 9 pm as it's no season here.
The weather's lovely, we had 25° today but I brought a cold from freakin' cold Germany and cant enjoy the weather yet.

Tomorrow we are going to visit Beaufort, the city where "Message in a bottle" was filmed. I won this trip from a Nicholas Sparks sweepstake so I gotta go for some Nicholas Sparks sightseeing

What a freaky weekend

Yesterday, I went to one of the coolest parties of all this year. It was a medic party, hosted by the med students and was held on the hospital property in the anatomy. Students told me, that they can only do this party there in summer because in winter, the corpses are stored there but in summer it's too hot and they got the rooms for their parties.

Very creepy but it was more of an open air party because it was too hot to stay in the dance room. The prices were unbelievable cheap, beer 1 Euro, Vodka Energy 2,50 Euro and 1 Euro for a hot dog. No entrance and really good music. So, my humanist friends and I, who had never been on the hospital property, nor partied with med students because they never cross our way since they study on the hospital property and not on campus, were eager to meet some prospective brain specialists

Well, great party BUT I had to work on Sat as I always do and couldn't party all night long. So, 2 friends and I decided to take a taxi home. We just dropped Nele and wanted to move on to my place when a women in a Smart crashed in our taxi! I hid my head hard and had to go to hospital (another one, not were the party was) were my neck got x-rayed etc.

Diagnosis: whiplash-injury

No work for me today, staying at home taking pain relief pills and keeping my neck warm all the time.

But believe me, that party was really worth the trouble I have now

Malaysia 2007

It's confirmed and the flight is booked, I'm definitely going to Malaysia this year. It's a year ago since I've last visited and I can't wait to go there again.

The coolest thing is, that my friend Nele will come with me. She has never been to Asia before and I'm sure she'll be amazed by the food, the shopping malls, the weather and the people. It's so much better to have company on a 11 hour flight, I'm so happy she'll be joining me.

We'll be in Malaysia from September 16 til October 15, so 4 whole weeks where we can shop (I can finally use my topshop member card again) and eat (char siew with mee for me) until we are broke. We're also planning a trip to Singapore and somewhere to the beach to get a lovely tan before we return.

If anyone wants to meet up, just shout out loud!
